Aruna Darshana Signing off from Paris in a peak

In a dramatic turn of events at the Men's 400m semi-finals, Aruna Darshana, competing in Heat 2 and racing in lane 4, showcased an incredible performance. We witnessed his meteoric rise from World No. 52 to World No. 13, a climb that seemed nothing short of miraculous. Aruna clocked an astonishing time of 44.75 seconds, achieving his new personal best and finishing in 5th position in his heat.

However, despite his remarkable feat, Aruna faced a devastating setback. He was disqualified due to a lane infringement, under TR17.2.3. The disqualification came as a significant blow, shattering the hopes built around his performance.

The heat was won by Kirani James, who recorded his seasonal best with a time of 43.78 seconds. The second place was secured by Zambian athlete Muzala Samukonga, with both athletes qualifying for the final round.

The news of Aruna's disqualification is truly heartbreaking, especially after the high hopes and expectations placed on him. Despite this setback, we all hold strong hopes for his future. We believe in his potential for a great comeback and anticipate seeing him grow and improve as an athlete. As one nation, we look forward to witnessing a better version of Aruna Darshana at the 2028 Olympics.
