The MoraSpirit Initiative stands out as a platform committed to timely updates on university level sports in Sri Lanka. Based in the University of Moratuwa, this initiative takes pride in its mission to showcase the outstanding accomplishments of committed undergraduate-athletes ultimately bringing honor to their respective alma maters.
It not only chronicles the achievements of undergraduate-athletes but also actively contributes to the broader promotion and appreciation of university-level sports in Sri Lanka.
In a leap towards achieving international recognition, MoraSpirit initiated the ‘Global Nexus’ project, which serves as the inaugural step, to strategically expand MoraSpirit’s reach and influence beyond Sri Lankan borders.
Its primary focus centers around:
- Connecting nations through sports to nurture global brotherhood.
- Providing a platform for sharing diverse insights on sports media.
- Offering abundant opportunities for professional development and personal growth.
- Empowering sports media through strategic initiatives and uplifting MoraSpirit as a brand.
MoraSpirit's vision is clear-to take our brand to new heights by embracing diversity and global perspectives. With a mission-aimed to connect the globe through the universal language of sports by partnering with foreign advisors and ambassadors, we strive not only to excel in sports media but also to create a bridge for bringing people together through a shared love for sports and its values.
The key goals of the Global Nexus Project include expanding the MoraSpirit brand globally to enhance the reputation, ensuring the long-term sustainability, establishing a global audience and impact, facilitating professional development opportunities for individuals involved, and promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
On February 4, 2024, at 8:00 PM Sri Lankan time, the inauguration of the Global Nexus project took place. The inauguration session included a comprehensive briefing on the Global Nexus project, introducing the crew members and outlining their respective roles. The primary focus of the day was to on board the global representatives as advisors to the Global Nexus project.
The sequence of the events unfolded with an introduction of the Project, Organization's Hierarchy and project Hierarchy by Afrah Rumie; followed by a welcome speech from Isuru Akalanka (Head & Chief Corporative Officer). Afrah Rumie then presented the purpose and the objectives of the Global Nexus project to the audience. During the event, five distinguished advisors were onboarded, including ArsalanAsad (Taekwondo athlete & manager), Iaroslav Tokmachov (sports manager & coach), Ntege Derrick (journalist sports manager),and Zohid Akramov (sports manager). As the next occasion, the executive committee (ExCo) speech was delivered by Heminda Jayaweera (Co-founder). The proceedings were concluded with the vote of thanks from Shayini Ahinsa (Co-Chair).
The end of the event was transformed into an engaging and interactive platform, with the advisors and the Spiriters actively expressing their opinions and interests regarding the future trajectory of the Global Nexus project.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the next big step for the Global Nexus project is to onboard ambassadors, who will play a key role in achieving the objectives of the project globally.
Within the Global Nexus Initiative, our future plans include;
· Establishing a platform to share opinions: Engaging ambassadors in responding to inquiries and leading discussions on social media and online forums.
· Conducting workshops for Spiriters: Enhancing skills across diverse areas such as photography, article writing, publics peaking, announcing, project management, AI, and photo editing skills.
· Encouraging attractive content creation: Ambassadors contributing in providing the content to boost MoraSpirit’s popularity, enhancing the audience engagement, and providing behind-the-scenes access.
· Expanding the Social Media Audience: Ambassadors delivering real-time updates and reviewsonsocialmediaplatformsduringsportseventstobroadenthedemographic reach and enhance the audience engagement.
· Providing multilingual coverage of events: Ambassadors representing various countries contributing to offering the coverage in multiple languages, to reach a wider audience.
· Offering cultural insights: Collaborating with virtual influencers and creators to enrich the diversity of the coverage with insights from various regions.
· Promoting sustainable and inclusive messaging: Aligning with MoraSpirit's mission to promote sustainability and inclusivity in sports.
