In a twist of events, University of Peradeniya managed to defeat Sabaragamuwa University in a penalty drop out which ended 2-1 as a result of the match being drawn 10 all. The defending champions University of Moratuwa showed clear intentions that they want to keep the title with them as they edged out University of Jaffna 29 points to 12.
Peradeniya vs Sabaragamuwa (QF 3)
It was almost a repeat telecast of the Cricket World Cup final where the super over itself ended in a draw but Peradeniya University managed to go one up against their opponents in the second round of the penalty drop out which resulted them in keeping the title hopes alive. The Pera lads started proceedings with a try and Sabare replied with a try of their own. Eventually Pera scored again to gain the lead before half time.
Half time - Pera 10 (2T)- Sabare 05 (1T)
The second round was going no where with botched opportunities from either side but miraculously, Sabare scored the equalizer and having missed the conversion, the match ended in a 10 all draw. This meant that the team advancing to the semi finals would be decided by a penalty drop out. Both teams managed only 1 successful kick out of 3 which meant that a second round had to be played. Despite tension rising from either side, the Pera number 22 Shane Perera managed to find his inner Johnny Wilkinson to bisect the posts and after Sabare missed the final kick, it was curtains for them and Pera clinched onto a very tight victory. Captain of Pera Isuru Herath will need to regroup his boys in preparation for next weeks semi finals.

University of Peradeniya win by penalty drop out.
Mora vs Jaffna (QF 4)
Despite the delayed start of the previous match, the title defenders Mora opened the scoring with a try. Eventually the boys from University of Jaffna replied with a try of their own to equalise the scores. The Sharks of Mora scored back to back tries with easy conversions to take them up to 19 points using both their backs and fowards.
Half time- Mora 19 (3T 2C) : Jaffna 05 (1T)
Resuming proceedings, the combined team effort from Mora enabled them to score with 3 back to back tries and the Northern defence had no answer to the onslaught of Mora. The all round attack of Mora was too much for Jaffna to handle and scrappy play in attack was not helping their cause. Eventually University of Jaffna scored a consolation try and after successfully converting, it was full time and the defending champions led by Vidushan Vijesandiran will be heading back home with high spirits.
Full time - Mora 34 (6T 2C) : Jaffna 12 (2T 1C)
